You were lovers, as you probably have guessed even if you don't remember. You were also inseparable for a while. Not just romantically, but she was your shadow at first. Once she graduated out of being an apprentice, she latched onto your cloak and you were very, very close. Then, because she had that powerful Gree bloodline, she advanced faster than you did.
